Edinburgh Military Tattoo 2009: Welcome Switzerland!

From 7 to 29 August 2009, the representation orchestra of the Swiss Army Central Band will perform at the world-renowned Edinburgh Military Tattoo. The Swiss Army Central Band will be under the direction of Captain Max Schenk and Captain Aldo Werlen, company commander and drum leader, and Staff Warrant Officer Philipp Rütsche, drum major and choreographer of the music show.

The Edinburgh Military Tattoo is the most spectacular military parade in the world, enjoyed by an international television audience of about 100 million. The Tattoo has become an integral part of the BBC's culture programme. Over its three-week season, a 217,000-strong audience will marvel at the show on the Esplanade, set against the backdrop of world famous Edinburgh Castle. The Swiss Armed Forces and the Swiss Army Central Band will be greatly honoured to be a part of this event.

The Swiss Army Central Band will make its first appearance in Scotland with about 70 musicians, including four women. The audience can expect to see an exciting music programme featuring a sophisticated Swiss component and an elaborate show performed by virtuoso musicians!
